Reno Hot Air Balloon Races
Each year in September, Reno hosts hot air balloon races, the largest free hot air ballooning event in the world. Attendees can look up into the Reno skies and see a rainbow of hot air balloons soaring above.
Beginning at 5:00AM on Saturday and Sunday, balloon pilots light off their burners to light the balloons from the inside, and the glowing balloons acts as a beacon to sleepy spectators making their way to the launch field. As dawn rises, the brightly colored balloons rise majestically into the early morning darkness, making photographers like kids in a candy store.
With more than 75 balloons, there are more great images than it is possible to capture. The Great Reno Balloon Race is a photographer’s dream come true.
